Junk Journal Journey

Junk Journal Journey

Well here we are…1 week later & I have the first kit ready to be downloaded. If you’re taking this journey with me I’ll bet you’re anxious to get started. Here’s what’s in the kit…

Flower Gathering Junk Journal Kit 1

~ 4 Pages/Papers 8.5-inches x 11-inches: You can print the papers on one side or both. There will likely be a narrow white border around the paper after printing, just trim it off & then fold the paper in half. These four papers become 16 pages of your junk journal. Print on standard, 8.5-inch x 11-inch paper.

Papers for junk kit

~ Library Card Pocket, Flip, & Book Plate: an old library pocket from a book was used as a template for the pocket that you can tuck keepsakes into. I lined the pocket with a printed paper to give it a finished look. The book plate would look great on the inside page of your junk journal. Don’t forget to write in your name!  A flip is an element that you can flip open & write a little something on the inside. Kind of like a secret little space. Print all these elements on standard 8.5-inch x 11-inch paper.

Book Plate Envelope Flip

~ Tags: 2 kinds of tags are included in the Flower Gathering Junk Journal kit. The first are word tags that you cut out & glue wherever you want a little something-something. The word tags are on the same page as the flip because both look great printed on standard, 8.5-inch x 11-inch print paper.

The second sheet of tags are 4 wonderful gift type tags with lovely ladies wearing fanciful hats adorned with flowers. These tags look best when printed on 65 lb – 110 lb card stock. Just cut out, punch a hole if you want to add a ribbon or string. Tuck the tags into pockets or use to decorate a page.

There are many ways to approach this project. You can wait until all the kits are available & then begin or print, cut & fold the elements in this kit. Start collecting ephemera like these things I’m considering using in my Flower Gathering Junk Journal…

Check out the sweet edge on that envelope that was tucked in my laptop wooden desk. I can’t think of a better way to preserve it than it make it part of my new/old journal. I also found a petal paper envelope, old seed packets, & stationery. Bits of ribbon, lace, & buttons would look charming, too. Oh & don’t forget to include paper doilies, if you have them.

If you want to add a bit of age to your ephemera, you can tea or coffee dye.  Here’s a video I used before coffee dying my first batch of papers. Coffee Dying Video

I used the oven method so I could get a lot done in a short time.

I’ll bet you’re ready to download & get started, but before we do that there’s a bit of info you’ll want to know.  This kit will not be on studioonthecorner.com forever. This is part of a larger kit that will be listed on the Studio on the Corner Etsy shop. The purchased kit will have more options like PDF files & individual elements for digital creating. I’ve not decided how long the kit will be available for free, but I’ll post it here on the blog as well as on social media sites before removing the files.
